7 questions you must solve before composing

7 questions you must solve before composing

Nov 18, 2019

Composting is a relatively simple activity, although it is not exempt from rigor. Composting is more than just filling a bucket with organic waste, that is obvious to any initiate in the exciting world of composting. The question is to find out what elements make the difference.

Elementary doubts about composting

The first steps in composting are exciting. You are making your own fertilizer naturally, using traditional, ancestral techniques. But it is also a process full of doubts. Some can be answered by trial and error; others, better solve them before you start composting.

The composter's location

Before the first filling, it will be necessary to know where to place the composter. It is recommended that it be accessible, preferably in an area without much sun exposure and on ground soil (where the microorganisms of the substrate favor the formation of compost).

What can NOT be composted?

Better to start learning what can be composted, the ideal is to start by identifying what things cannot be composted. Do not load the compost throwing everything you do not eat. The composter does not assimilate well:

  • Animal remains, such as meat, pork, sausages, bones, fish ...
  • Remains of food in general, such as breads (and the like), covered in cheese, rotten fruits, citrus peels (bearable in minimum quantities) ...
  • Garbage in general, such as traces of barbecues, ashes, spoiled plants, cigars, etc.

What waste gives better compost? It is clear what is not a composting bin: it is not a garbage can. It is a tool to make fertilizer from: fruit and vegetable remains (in good condition), tea and coffee remains, healthy plants, grass pruning remains, etc. Mixing the wet remains well with the dry ones and aerating the composter, with these remains it is more than enough to obtain quality compost. How to start composting? As in any other activity, the first step is the most difficult. No ...

Does the temperature affect the compost? Yes, that's why you should not put in direct sun, or saturate in winter. Keep in mind that heat accelerates biochemical processes, and winter cold slows them down. It also values the high water content of the waste you generate at home, and its side effect along with the temperature. When can compost be used? The million dollar question. Obviously, compost can be used when ready. The classic test is to remove some fertilizer from the composter, throw it ...

How can you iron in half the time?

Ironing is an art, but it takes time to achieve mastery, not to mention acceptable results. Ironing is a matter of time, yes, but also of resources. It is normal to go to a professional to leave us clothes as new for special occasions, but what if you could do it at home?

Carpet cleaning: do you vacuum or spray?

Winter is carpet time. They insulate from the cold and are perfect in our classrooms. If you like to use carpets all year, you probably already know how to keep them clean. However, if you are more than putting the carpets in winter, you may need to refresh your memory a bit when cleaning them. In any case, to make the most of the advantages of placing a carpet in your living room when the thermometer collapses, you should follow some basic cleaning guidelines. Carpets must always be clean, and that includes both periodic maintenance (if you have them on all year) and deep cleaning.

Great shopping experience, item was very quickly processed and sent, extremely quick from Spain to UK! The service is exactly as you expect to receive- courteous and trouble free. If there was one thing I would comment on is I wish more packaging was used to protect item as it was sent in a large box which it just 'rattled' around in and could have caused damage to the product. Thankfully the outcome was good. I would recommend to everyone, dispite this minor issue. Thank you very much!
